After testing several materials and thicknesses in our workshop, we chose Mylar around 0.20 mm thick for its balance between flexibility and durability. Thicker films tend to retain more of the curl from being manufactured on a roll, which makes them harder to lay flat. Our choice makes it easier to work on canvas while maintaining excellent durability.

With spray paint, systematic cleaning is usually not necessary: thin layers of paint can dry on the stencil without affecting its reuse. If paint builds up, especially with thick acrylic, you can gently clean your stencil with lukewarm water or a product suited to the paint used.
